Motivation drives us all. Motivation to do our best in our work and family life, motivation to do something extraordinary.
Soren Holmgren is one of those extraordinary people. As a teenager an hereditary eye disease began to make its mark on him. Soren Holmgren slowly lost his sight, and it was difficult to live an ordinary life. You would probably think that, with most people, losing their vision would make them sit back and come to a dead stop. For Soren Holmgren it meant that he did the opposite and turned the disadvantage into an advantage.
With an irrepressible joie de vivre and a 'get-on-with-it' attitude, Soren Holmgren took responsibility for his new life without sight. Two Olympic gold medals, a successful career and a happy family life makes Soren Holmgren living proof that anyone can succeed with the right attitude. His life inspires and motivates the majority of people, and at the same time provides food for thought.
The Outstanding Young Persons Award 2008
In October 2008 Soren Holmgren received the Junior Chamber International (JCI) of Denmark's TOYP-prize in the category of personal development and achievement. It is a prize which is awarded annually to an outstanding person, with the purpose of honouring entrepreneurship, organisational ability, leadership and commitment - to some-one who moves forward and shows the way, and at the same time is a model and an inspiration for other people in society.
